One of the most important ministries at theGATE is to our families and children.
Our Mission for Kids Rock Children’s Ministry is to provide a God-encountering environment where the character of God, the ways of God, and the love of God becomes real to children. It is our desire to partner with parents as their children begin the lifelong journey of discipleship.
Through relevant Bible teaching, music, group discussion and age-appropriate activities in large and small group settings, children at theGATE have the opportunity to experience the presence of God, and understand the character and ways of God. We want our children to know God intimately, love God passionately and serve God selflessly.
Safety and Security:
Your child’s safety is our utmost concern. Therefore, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for our children, all children must be registered. First time attendees should register their children at the Welcome Desk in the upstairs Lobby. There your child will receive a name tag and parents will receive a receipt with the child’s quiet call number on it. This receipt must be presented to teachers as children are picked up after the Worship Gathering.
Nursery (6 weeks - 18 months)
It is never too early for children to learn to experience the love and presence of God. theGATE’s volunteers provide a safe, loving environment where infants can relax and play while their parents attend the Sunday Morning Worship Gathering.
Toddlers (18 months - 3)
The Gate toddlers experience a safe and loving environment for creative play. Repetition is the key to teaching toddlers, and the Bible App for Kids curriculum exposes toddlers to one basic truth and memory verse each month. In each month's episode, kids go on a Bible adventure with Emily and an animated star named Shine, sing a memorable song with Mr. Music, memorize a verse with Guy the Bible Guy, and see how the Bible story applies to an everyday situation with Shine's animated friends. Each week they will enjoy learning the songs and hearing the Bible story repeated through visual story cards and a take-home adventure booklet, complete with activities for families during the week. Units can be enjoyed and reinforced throughout the week with the interactive and free Bible App for Kids, available for iPhone, Android and Kindle.
Pre-K through K (ages 3-5)
This energetic and curious age group enjoys creative play with age appropriate stations and activities in a safe and loving environment. The Bible App for Kids curriculum introduces one basic truth and memory verse each month that goes along with a key Bible story. Elementary (Grades 1-5)
Through worship, teaching prayer, creative arts and hands-on instruction, our elementary aged children are learning the truth of God’s word and how it applies to their lives every day. This age group experiences both small group and large group activities and application that reinforce the monthly theme and memory verse. The Sunday morning experience includes group games, creative object lessons and live worship. Children in this age group also have the opportunity to participate in the weekly creative arts program on Wednesday nights where they can practice and hone skills in drama, dance, puppets and worship. Children in grade 5 have the opportunity to be a youth assistant, serving in our toddler and preschool rooms or as a sound and media tech in the elementary room (training is required and provided). This age group remains upstairs with their families for worship every 4th Sunday, and they remain upstairs for the entire service every 5th Sunday (about 4 times per year).
Although students in grade 6 are officially part of our LEGACYouth middle school ministry, they are also offered the option of serving monthly in our other classrooms as a youth assistant. Training is provided prior to assigning them to a classroom, and parental consent and agreement to our expectations and policies is required. Discipleship and mentoring is offered as they learn how to be a leader and serve with grace. For more information about students in 6th grade, see the LEGACYouth section of our website.
